WESTFORD (June 6, 2018) Terry Ryan, state senate candidate for the First Middlesex District, today received the endorsement of Westford Schools Superintendent Everett “Bill” Olsen, Jr. and Assistant Superintendent Kerry Clery, who called Ryan “a great leader and problem solver.”
Ryan, an engineer and public servant who was raised in Lowell and now lives in Westford, is running for the seat vacated by Senator Eileen Donoghue. The First Middlesex District serves the city of Lowell and the towns of Dunstable, Groton, Pepperell, Tyngsboro, and Westford.
“Terry Ryan is a smart and level-headed leader who brings people together to reach common ground and practical solutions,” said Olsen, who previously served as an assistant superintendent for the Lowell Public Schools. “He has been a staunch advocate for students and teachers in Westford, and I am confident that he will bring his experience and expertise to Beacon Hill to make education and school safety a priority, ensuring that every student in every community has equitable resources in a safe learning environment.”
Kerry Clery, who previously served as Assistant Superintendent for the Groton-Dunstable Regional School District, added: “Terry Ryan is a voice of reason who leads others to put aside differences and work towards solutions that are in the best interest of all.”
Ryan served on the Westford School Committee from 2012-2018, most recently as committee chair, and served on the Pedestrian Safety Committee, the Public Works Committee, and the Westford Healthy Communities Committee.
I am honored to receive the endorsement and support of Superintendent Olsen and Assistant Superintendent Clery—two leaders whom I greatly admire and respect,” Ryan said. “I look forward to serving the communities in the First Middlesex District with the same dedication that I served Westford for the past six years.”
